Grandchildren are the coolest thing since sliced bread, and today I celebrate the birthday of one of mine! I can remember that day, 12 years ago, when I flew across country to be with my daughter (or close by) as she delivered her first. I will skip right over the birthin’ part (it was a difficult time but the outcome was perfect), and move on to when our little Jonathan arrived home. Glorious me! I got to play mommy all over again, and cradle that sweet baby in my arms, while at the same time, cradle my baby in my arms too, and assure her that all will be fine and with a little rest, she’ll feel like new. In a blink of the eye, twelve years have passed! Would someone like to explain that to me? I think that’s the message: time is going to go even faster when grandchildren are involved, so stay alert! This morning, as I chatted with my daughter she explained how Jon had one of the best birthdays ever. He took several of his buddies “rip cording and zip lining” in a nearby jungle park, where they climbed their hearts out — and oh yes, he got his first telephone! Happy Birthday Jon! I love you!
