Make New Friends But Keep the Old

I woke up early this morning and went into the kitchen to put the coffee on. I pulled up the window shades and peered out the window to see what kind of a day we would be having, and noticed my neighbor standing on the front sidewalk, cup of coffee in hand, just looking at our house. At first I thought, well this is a bit weird. It’s awfully early — Is she trying to decide if she wants to come to the door?

I opened the front door and called out to her, “Heh neighbor, what are you doing?” She replied, “Oh, I’m just making my early morning rounds, praying for special people I care about.”

We gave each other a hug and I thanked her. Amazing stuff. If I hadn’t gone to the kitchen at just that moment, I would have never known she was there and probably would never have learned about her early morning prayers.

Friends come to us in life at different times, for a purpose. Friends who pray for you are extra-special. I suspect they are angels in disguise.

Thank you, God, for all the angels and thank you for this lovely morning.

I love your friend who stopped by to say a prayer for you in front of your house. It made me think of the walk I had last week with two dear friends, Sue and Betty. We shared alot of things and afterward I said I was grateful for such friends because I had never had a sister. Betty said she didn’t have a sister either, only brothers but that we are all sisters-in-Christ!

    Loved your beautiful flower pictures!

Thank you, Joy. The flowers are from my neighbor’s garden. So not only did we have early-morning prayers, but also received a beautiful bouquet of irises!
