Served Up On A Silver Platter

Let’s talk. You know how it seems that we mark our years by landmark events such as birthdays, weddings, funerals, confirmations, baptisms, first day of job, last day of job?

Well, wouldn’t it be interesting if we took the ordinary days and celebrate them instead? A day like today, for instance. I woke up to a lovely warm breeze coming in through the bedroom window. Our backyard robin was singing a delightful tune – over and over again. Coffee brewing. Ahhhhhhh! Newspaper was delivered on time and sitting at the front door, thanks to a friendly neighbor. Nothing terrible on the news this morning. Good. Looks like the weather is going to cool down a bit over the next few days. Even better.

Went for my morning walk with a couple of girlfriends and we talked about doing the Bay to Breakers again, next year. No one had anything “heavy” to talk about. Lots of laughter. Perfect.

Lovely warm breeze gently pushes soft waves of scented comfort through the screen door, as I work at my computer. No client calls. Not a one. Quiet. Peaceful. Wow, I’ve managed to get a lot done today. Wonderful. Two days ahead of my deadline.

Husband resting quietly. Pain under control. Watching the Giants play baseball in Milwaukee. The announcer’s familiar voice creeps into my awareness as I continue to work. Love that voice. It’s a “fixture” around here.

Dinner is planned. No trip to the grocery store necessary. Can’t think of a thing to blog about, except to perhaps celebrate this wonderful, God-given day.

God’s Peace, served up on a silver platter.

  2. Here in NH the day also got past me in her quietness. No mowers, no calls just us and our lovely pets seems there were a few of us who enjoyed the day as you did! Thanks!

Sounds like a perfect day for you. Hope you keep on enjoying it into the evening and night. It makes me feel you are having a “golden day served up on a silver platter” – no Cinderella Rags for you – all riches of silver and gold.

  4. NICE READ!! I was talking to a very good friend of mine in San Francisco…last night….and he was telling me about the “Bay to Breakers” and wants us to plan to do it together next year….It must be an omen….(or at least, I’ll consider it one) smile

Dear Kirsten, thanks for your comment! I highly recommend that you do the B2B’s next year! It is a blast. Five of us did it last year, and we’re gearing up to do it again.

  5. Happy Good Day! 🙂 And many happy returns.
