Some days, God gives you just the extra serving of soul food you needed — just the extra helping to keep your spirit smiling.
Today, I was elected to serve on our church council. I am proud of this achievement, but the cats are not impressed, so I thought I’d show off a bit and share this news with you!
I love doing this kind of “work”. This is not the first time I’ve served on a church council and I am really looking forward to doing it again. Church councils are an interesting lot. They are made up of good Christian brothers and sisters who want to help make their church the best it can be — and sometimes they make mistakes — but that’s because they are human, and that’s OK. The good news: They have God at the helm and one way or another, the job will get done, and the church will be the best it can be.
I have been thinking about why I want to serve, and it all gets down to one thing. It’s the people. To me, there is simply nothing better than meeting new people, from all walks of life; some young, some old, and discovering over and over again, how much the same we all really are. Each of us has hopes, dreams, strengths, and weaknesses. We’ve all experienced great “ups” and horrific “downs” in our lives.
God, I’m convinced, wants each of us to reach out — not just shake a hand — but take a moment to truly listen to each other. And today, I was the receiver of that kind of “God’s Love”. I received the kudos of many whom I barely know, but they took a moment to talk to me, to share their thoughts with me and listened to what I had to say, too. They made me feel wanted. Loved. And that is simply what we all want. It’s a good job. I’ll take it!
God’s Peace!
I know you will do a superb job. You have the experience and are so caring about people.
Make it a great day, Barb
Thank you, Barb!
You will be a perfect council person with your experience, leadership expertise, high energy, faith, and passion for people and God. Yes, the position is perfect for you and you are perfect for the position. So happy to be a faithful follower and supporter of the strong leaders in our church.
Thank you very much, Jan!
Congratulations, Sue. Sorry I didn’t find you in the crowd to tell you in person how happy we are to have you to help lead LCR in the months ahead. You will do a great job and at the same time I am sure you will receive many blessings in the process!
Joy (and Gail)
Thank you, Joy!
